Welcome to Office Tech,

This course is designed to introduce basic computer skills using desktops, Chromebooks, and tablets in the areas of: basic typing, Word/Google Docs, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Google Classroom & Drive, some/limited document scanning, and printing. Students will become familiar with computer parts and items related to or used with them. The technology component of the class will also focus on a variety of learning activities that emphasize the use of the Internet, Internet safety, software learning programs, & photography for school social media platforms. Core topics are adapted to fill a student’s needs to work within their IEP Vocational learning goal.

The office aspect of the class exposes students to basic clerical skills in the areas of: identification of office materials, shredding, phone skills, utilizing copy/scanning machines, laminating and cutting, sorting, and delivery skills within the building. Our classroom is highly involved in obtaining outsourced jobs within the vocational classrooms in the building and in the past as a partner with businesses in the community such as the Free Press Marathon and Metcom Inc. We have worked on packaging skills to obtain these jobs and are always seeking other similar types of work.
